D.O.R.K.

One great thing about Facebook is keeping in touch with family and friends. I have a wonderful niece that I’ve watched grow up from afar. We only get to see each other on Thanksgiving that is if my brother’s family can get here.

Looking at Xandi’s photos and reading her status shows me that she has an awesome relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ. Wow, sometimes her insight as a teenager is so remarkable, I forget she’s still in high school.

I was surprised when she posted, “I love being a D.O.R.K.” When first of all I know she isn’t, so I figured it meant something special. She told me that I was a D.O.R.K. too. Well maybe not quite like that but she would have been right. I’m happy to report that I am a Daughter Of the Risen King, a D.O.R.K.

I love having a Facebook relationship with Xandi, so I hope when I confess to her that I’m also a dork, she won’t think any less of me. Dictionary.com states, that a dork is a noun that means, “a stupid or ridiculous person. “ So Xandi, I’m sorry but your Aunt Peggy is a dork.

Why?

In my last post, I talked about my drive to work? Well, the other day, I caught myself being pretty dorky when I was practicing my wave. Yup, that’s right practicing how to wave at the approaching traffic.

The practice consisted of 3 types of wave:

  •  The full fledge side to side wave;
  • A simple lift of the hand wave;
  • Or a cool peace sign.

I’m really thankful that I didn’t pass the same person twice or they would have thought…what a dork!

Ephesians 4:3-6 says, Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (emphasis mine)

Well I was always told that you could find all the answers in God’s Word.
So how does a D.O.R.K. wave?

How else but with one index finger pointing straight to the heavens!
I’m hoping that maybe, just maybe the traveler going the other way will think…

WOW! WHAT A D.O.R.K.

Thanks Xandi for helping me be a great big D.O.R.K.
Love You Bunches,
Aunt Peggy

The White Cycle

Joy Joy Joy…how can we be joyous when all we’ve seen for the last several weeks is white. With all the colors of the rainbow that he Lord provides for us to see…I think we are stuck in the white cycle. I got to thinking about how many different colors of white there are, so I looked online at Sherwin-Williams and Bengamin Moore.   These business specialize in color and boy to they. Sherwin-Williams has 204 and Bengamin Moore has 224 different shades of white. I found it interesting about why they name the colors as they did.   Here are some of my thoughts. Sherwin-Williams Extra White – must have a little extra stuff Nice White – could this one be politer then the others Simple White – is it easier on the eyes Smart White – if I ever get to paint an office I’m using this one, it could make me intelligent Dreamy White & Restful White – will I sleep better if I paint the bedroom with these? Benjamin Moore Timid White – this must be shyer then the other whites Seapearl...

Bouncing Baby Joy – Two Perspectives on Innocence and Faith

When you hear the phrase  “bouncing baby,”  what comes to mind? For many of us, it’s the image of a giggling child joyfully bouncing on the knee of a parent or grandparent. It’s a universal and heartwarming moment—filled with laughter, love, and just enough strain on the legs of the “horsey” to remind them they’re not as young as they used to be. But they don’t mind. They keep bouncing, because the joy on that little face is worth every second. That exchange—tired legs for giggles—becomes a quiet testament to the strength of love. But recently, I was reminded that not all bouncing babies are human. I live in a quiet, wonderful small town in Nebraska. Each day, I have the privilege of taking a 25-minute drive to and from work. That drive winds through the Nebraska countryside, which in springtime transforms into a natural nursery. Bulls, pigs, sheep, and cows dot the fields. And in the midst of it all—new life. Baby animals discovering the world for the very first time. Just la...

A Devotional for Daddy’s 100th Birthday

Honoring Paul Wayne Diehm “A Legacy That Lives On” Scripture: “The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” – Proverbs 20:7 Today we celebrate what would have been my daddy’s 100th birthday —  Paul Wayne Diehm . Though he’s been gone for 30 years, his love, strength, and faith remain deeply woven into our lives. Time may have passed, but his presence still surrounds us—in the stories we tell, the values we hold, and the quiet ways we carry him in our hearts. Paul Wayne Diehm  was a man of courage and conviction. He proudly served his country during  World War II  as a  tail gunner on a B-17 bomber , watching over his crew with steady eyes and a brave heart. When he returned home, he continued to serve in another way—through his devotion to family, his strong work ethic, and his steadfast faith in God. Daddy also taught us the meaning of  patriotism . He had deep respect for the flag and for the freedoms it represents. If we...
